Share |

BISG's Supply Chain Committee works to increase the efficiency of book manufacturing and distribution processes. The committee investigates issues and formulates new approaches or enhances existing approaches to identified supply-chain challenges. The committee is chaired by Shanya Webb Dray of Kaplan Publishing.

Committee Goals

The committee is currently working to:

  • Identify & explore the elements that impact the distribution of finished products to the consumer.

  • Develop surveys, research, and white papers on current manufacturing trends in collaboration with BMI & AAP.

Why work on Supply Chain?

Manufacturing trends will allow product & promotional planners to better align their products with inventory availability while digital printing protocols will help ensure publishers and retailers align with existing compliance requirements. Manufacturing trends & digital printing information will allow for the development of more accurate forecasting tools.

The changing supply chain makes it even more important to measure and report on manufacturing trends, ultimately supporting the development of more accurate and relevant forecasting tools. The committee considers all of these issues in its pursuit of a more effective and efficient publishing supply chain.

What can you expect to see from our work?

  • Supply chain best practices for digital printing document
  • Manufacturing trends white paper
