Intelligence. Innovation. Resolutions.
The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) is the only book trade association whose membership consists of volunteers on committees that collaborate to resolve pain points in the publishing ecosystem. BISG maintains standardized best practices, develops research and information, and creates education and events.
BISG spans consumer, educational, professional, and scholarly sectors, both upstream and downstream, who produce or distribute content in physical and digital formats. Our membership includes over 200 companies from Big 5 publishers to emerging technology companies, representing thousands of individuals who work to the make the industry run more efficiently for the benefit of all. BISG gives its members a voice in an industry undergoing transformation and connects them to peers, ideas, and data through its committees, events, and publications.
Founded in 1975 at the annual conference of the Book Manufacturers Institute to address the need for better research capabilities, BISG continues to evolve to meet the needs of a membership adapting to new and emerging ways published content is produced and sold.
In representing every sector of the book industry, BISG affirms its belief that all industry segments are interdependent and that common problems are best solved through joint effort.
