"Building a Smarter Supply Chain," the theme for BISG's 2020 Annual Meeting, has grown only more important in a world by a continuing pandemic. In this opening conversation of the series, Craig Riggs of ReaderBound talks about his experience building metadata-driven sites like 49th Shelf. He'll also discuss the work he continues to do to use metadata repositories to feature discoverable book content for book publishers working to reach their target audiences.

About the Speakers

Craig Riggs

Craig Riggs, partner at Turner-Riggs and founder of ReaderBound, has more than 20 years of experience in building brands and developing markets, and has led major marketing initiatives in Canada, Asia, and South America. His current portfolio emphasizes the development of new web platforms, publishing technology, content marketing, and audience development. He is currently leading the project, one of the largest and most ambitious book marketing projects in the history of Canadian publishing, and is actively engaged in commissioned research on rapidly evolving strategies and trends in book marketing, book discovery, and consumer behavior. He holds a Masters in Publishing and is an adjunct professor at Simon Fraser University.


Brian O'Leary, Executive Director of BISG

Brian O'Leary, Executive Director of the Book Industry Study Group, the trade organization for the book publishing industry in the U.S. whose membership represents the entire publishing industry, from publishers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers and libraries to printers, suppliers, service providers, and more. BISG maintains several standing committees and working groups that meet to review, discuss and resolve problems raised by members and the industry as a whole.

Prior to joining BISG, he was principal of Magellan Media, a consulting firm that worked with book, magazine, and association publishers to improve the effectiveness of their content workflows.
