Over the last two years, BISG's Rights Committee has been working to identify and address the most pressing problems faced by the publishing rights community. In 2017, their work resulted in a widely ready white paper, Publishing Rights: An Untapped Opportunity. After the white paper debuted at BookExpo, the committee created a vendor solutions grid that outlined core capabilities for several firms active in the space, releasing that work at a rights summit held last September.

In 2018, the committee has extended its vendor work, and it plans to return to a review of rights taxonomies later this year. Committee chair Tricia McCraney and the many members of the committee invite you to join us on September 6 a mixer organized by and for the book industry rights community. We'll update everyone on what BISG has been doing to improve how we handle contracts, rights, and royalties. You'll also have an opportunity to share and discuss your own pain points, stumbling blocks,  solutions, and innovations in an informal setting, while celebrating the role of rights and royalties in book publishing.

The event takes place at Art Bar, 52 Eighth Avenue in New York. Members can attend for free; non-members are welcome to join for a nominal $49. Register now to join an afternoon of discussion, light refreshments, drinks, and the excellent company of colleagues, both old and new.
