While many across the publishing industry are busy enjoying summer Fridays and family vacations, BISG is already anticipating fall's chill in the air -- and preparing for upcoming programs in September and beyond. One great way to take advantage of BISG's full fall calendar is to share the experience with friends.
BISG Members can easily invite along colleagues who are also members, but what about friends from non-member companies? Typically, two-hour programs in NYC are $99 for non-member attendees. However, from July to December 2019, BISG is introducing Refer-a-Friend.
The Refer-a-Friend offer encourages current members of BISG to bring non-member friends along to programs and events, free of charge! Every member will be allotted three free guest passes to fall events of their choosing. These guest passes can be given to friends, mentees, or clients from non-member companies. Curious if your friend is already a member of BISG? We've got this handy list of member companies and individuals on our website.
It's easy to take advantage of this offer for members. Simply write to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know which events you and your friends will be attending. Read on to learn more about the events for the fall calendar.
9/16/19 BISG Presents: Book Publishing, from Concept to Consumer This event serves entry-level and mid-level professionals working across the book publishing supply chain. This career-development opportunity provides anyone interested in book publishing with a broader look at the life cycle of a book, from conception, development, and manufacturing to retailing and libraries.
With detailed sessions on acquisition, editorial, production and design, distribution, returns, retailing, and libraries, this full-day event will build your understanding of book publishing as a whole. Topics covered will be more 'how-to' than 'what-if,' with practical advice and instruction provided by industry veterans. Refreshments and lunch will be served. A post-event reception will provide attendees to meet colleagues from across the industry. Click on the link in the title for a detailed agenda for the day.
9/26/19 Market Opportunities: Rights & Technology is an event generously sponsored by Publishing Technology Partners. The focus will be this question: Is the book industry poised to take advantage of international rights sales? Answering this question will be a panel of rights experts and agents, the members of which will be announced soon.
10/3/19 Automating Supply Chain Communication will be a two-hour event in NYC addressing automated solutions for the publishing industry supply chain. As speakers are confirmed, names and bios will be announced. Keep an eye on your email inbox for promotions in the coming weeks.
11/7/19 The Committee Town Hall is an annual gathering of all committee members, complete with light refreshments, networking opportunities, and awards. Friends are more than welcome at this evening event.
All of these events are in New York, except for BISG Presents: Book Publishing from Concept to Consumer, which is in Chicago. Additionally, all events are in person and are currently without remote capability. BISG will notify all participants and friends via email if this changes.
So come one, come all, to BISG's fall events using the all-new Refer-a-Friend offer. With more members and friends registering for upcoming programs, maybe we can keep some of that fun summer energy going all the way until the end of the year.
