NEW YORK, May 14 2020 – Pace University’s Dyson College of Arts and Sciences is once again demonstrating leadership in training for the publishing industry with the return of its course offering, Metadata for Books. The course, part of the Masters in Publishing program, recognizes the key role that metadata plays in the success of book publishers in an increasingly online industry. While other publishing programs cover the topic within book marketing or IT courses, Metadata for Books is the only course offered solely on the topic.

“Book publishers are learning that they cannot succeed in marketing their books online without deep expertise in metadata,” says Manuela Soares, Director of the MS in Publishing Program. “We’re proud to lead the industry in making this subject front and center in our 36-year old program.”

The course instructor is Thad McIlroy, principal at the Future of Publishing and at Publishing Technology Partners, and co-author of the industry-standard The Metadata Handbook. The course begins May 26, 2020 and runs for six weeks.
