COVID-19 Book Industry Resources
In addition to developing programming specific to the evolving needs and concerns of the book publishing industry, BISG is curating a list of links to resources and policies, business openings and closings, and segment-specific initiatives in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, as it is our goal to foster a more informed, empowered, and efficient book industry.
BISG's Industry-Wide Survey
Book Industry Study Group released a survey on the impact of COVID-19 on the book industry supply chain in in March 2020. See the results.
Book Publishing Industry Discussion
The Book Industry Study Group convened an industry-wide web conference moderated by members of the BISG board. Results of the BISG survey of supply chain issues and opportunities related to the spread of COVID-19 were presented, experiences were shared, and questions from the audience were raised. Book Manufacturers' Institute Resources
The BMI resources page includes status of book manufacturers as well as the latest information from printers and suppliers that support the book publishing supply chain.
American Booksellers Association Resources
The ABA has useful information for booksellers and publishers, including Immediate Steps to Take During the COVID-19 Outbreak; Publisher, Wholesaler, and Vendor Support, and Opportunities for Financial Assistance.
American Library Association
The ALA has published Pandemic Preparedness, with resources for libraries, including: library responses to COVID-19, topics to include in an individual library policy, professional development/training resources, resources from ALA, federal resources, and state and local resources.
Association of American Publishers
The AAP has created a central resource that features a list of industry actions taken by individual publishers of books, journals, and education solutions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Independent Book Publishers Association
IBPA's resource center for independent book publishers includes links to interviews, and articles, and where to find information about opportunities for legal and financial assistance, and updates from industry partners.
PubWest has compiled a set of pandemic-related resources on its web site.
