The BISAC Subject Code List is the primary resource for categorizing book content in the North American market. Over the past year, BISG's Subject Codes Committee, chaired by Connie Harbison (Baker & Taylor), has been working to update the code list in several categories.

The Committee works to keep the BISAC Subject List current, ensuring that it continues to meet the needs of the industry. In addition to maintaining and updating the most current list of BISAC codes, the committee also creates and maintains BISAC Regional Themes, Merchandising Themes, and BISAC to Thema mapping.

This webinar, led by Connie Harbison, will describe the process used to create the update and the changes planned in the new code list, which will be published in December around the time of the webinar.

CONNIE HARBISON has been involved in the book industry for almost 30-years, starting as a trade book buyer in one of Barnes & Noble’s college bookstores. She was with RR Bowker for 13-years, working with data integration and quality. For the past 19-years, Connie has worked as director of quality assurance for Baker & Taylor. She has served as chairman of the BISAC Subject Committee for the past 20-years. Connie holds a BA and MA in English literature from The Catholic University of America and an MLS degree from Rutgers University.
