BISG Launches Mentorship Initiative with Two Surveys
As part of BISG's core strategy to "Provide anyone in book publishing with a forum to identify, discuss, and pursue opportunities to improve the industry," BISG is fielding a pair of surveys to identify interest in a mentorship program. The anticipated program would match experienced BISG members with individuals new to the publishing industry, regardless of membership status, who are seeking professional development and guidance in one or more book industry segments.
Many in the industry have expressed that they miss the organic connections that are fewer and harder to come by in the wake of the pandemic and subsequent shift to hybrid and remote work. Connection remains a vital part of our industry.
To empower the next generation of book industry professionals with the guidance and skills—both hard and soft—they need to succeed, BISG is asking for your input ahead of the launch of our mentorship program. Your responses to either the mentor or early career interest survey will help BISG shape the program by identifying interests among industry segments, prioritizing which hard and soft skills are most valued, and planning desired outcomes from a mentorship program.
If you'd like to participate, either as a mentor or as a mentee, please fill out the appropriate survey above. Any questions can be directed to BISG Operations Manager Brooke Horn.
