Here at BISG, we're gearing up for the 76th Frankfurter Buchmesse.

We look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting many new ones!

In addition to hosting two important events (details below!), the BISG team will be available to connect with our members and industry peers; discuss our ongoing projects and committee work; membership and sponsorship opportunities; and how BISG can help you and your team build your skill set and solve real-world problems. The Green Book Alliance Presents

Sustainability Data Collection and Reporting

Tuesday, October 15, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CET

Haus am Dom, Domplatz 3, 60311 Frankfurt am Main, Germany

As reporting for carbon footprints and sustainability improvements expands, the Green Book Alliance is working to develop a consensus on the data that matters, where to find it, and how to maintain it. This effort requires input and support from the supply chain as a whole. To make progress in this area, the GBA is hosting a three-hour workshop on sustainability data collection and reporting, to be held from 9:30 CET on Tuesday, October 15, at the Haus am Dom, before EDItEUR's supply chain seminar later that day.

To prepare for the workshop, virtual discussions were held in August to gather a working group of supply chain stakeholders (publishers, printers, paper manufacturers, etc.) to assess data collection requirements and available tools and identify opportunities to align/simplify requirements.

The Green Book Alliance is an alliance between the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), Book Industry Communication (BIC), and BookNet Canada (BNC) committed to improving sustainability in the book publishing supply chain.

Unlocking Efficiency:

BISG’s Proposed Standards for Translation Rights Royalty Statements

Friday, October 18, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. CEST

Conference Room “Encounter,” Hall 5.0

A royalty statement that lists a title only in a foreign language—or omits crucial details like the author’s name, product type, and publication date—is a time-consuming pain point for everyone in rights and royalties. Streamlining these processes can save hours of valuable time by providing consistent, comprehensive information upfront.

We’ll make the case for standardized royalty statement fields and present a new, research-based industry standard designed to alleviate common pain points. International rights professionals are invited to join us in becoming part of the solution, especially at this stage, where comments and input across the spectrum will help improve the eventual standard we recommend to the industry.
